In 2012, not long after receiving my Cosmetology license, I had the amazing privilege to be a semi-finalist for RAW Artists. That’s when I knew I had made the right career choice. I never really knew what I wanted to do. I knew that I was artistic, but I was also very athletic. I knew I loved doing my friends’ hair for dances, but never really thought of it as a career path. When I returned from my year abroad in Germany, it hit me - I wanted to do hair for the rest of my life. Ally Stewart Nevaeh SalonI spent even more time doing hair for special events and functions while there. My artistic side took over.  When I returned, I obtained my cosmetology license from The Paul Mitchell Academy, and began working in the salon business right out of school. I had an amazing support system that helped me every step of the way. When looking for a salon that had the infrastructure and company beliefs to support its stylists with continuing education, product knowledge, motivating promotions and phenomenal clients, I chose Nevaeh.  I believe a support system, both at home and at work, is the backbone of any career. It’s necessary to always stay inspired and motivated. My favorite part of being a stylist is hair    cutting. Understanding angles and how they affect a haircut just makes sense to me. Seeing a client leave happy and feeling beautiful is the ultimate reward. [clear]

“I absolutely love my job and could not ask to be in a better industry, it changes everyday and there is never a dull moment.” As a part of Nevaeh for close to three years now, Katelyn thoroughly enjoys her work. She graduated from Citrus Heights Beauty School in 2009 but has continued her education with in depth product knowledge on Prive products along with a series of Prive Professional cutting classes. These classes helped her better understand hair and how a certain cut and product melange can really transform a client’s hair and their ability to re-create the style at home. Katelyn is certified in Balmain hair extensions, the highest quality line from France. Hair extensions are a phenomenal way to create length and fullness and also make over a client’s hair to their desired look. They leave with the hair they wish they were born with! In addition to all the in-house training, Katelyn attends several hair shows and classes outside as well, frequently traveling to Los Angeles. “As a stylist we all have our favorite areas of cosmetology. For me, I have a passion for hair coloring and styling. I think color is a science and really makes a person who they are and shows off their personality. I liken it to a statement piece that is worn every day. I also enjoy styling hair so that it gives a client’s new color and cut a finished look. I take pleasure in educating my clients about how to style their hair and recreate it. That way they are just as happy with their hair at home.”
